Collection: POSI-BOMBERS SQUADRON

Our latest collection feature an adaptation of the iconic Felix the Cat, a character used for so many of my favorite things from old low riders, to Felix Chevrolet here in Los Angeles, and of course, the US Navy’s infamous VFA-31 squadron, The Tomcatters.

Felix simply represents a universal concept of “cool” across all cultures and platforms. He’s the guy who can get it done for ya, and with a smile we might add.

We steezed him out a bit with some fresh kicks and dimension, a truly stoked smile, and a “Posi-Bomb” as his mission is to cease any and all bad energy.

On a personal side, among my very deep interests in skateboarding/surfing, music and art, fighter aircraft and their squadrons were a particular love of mine from a very young age. I frequented airshows with my dad (when he was around) - a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, enjoying the intense and massively powerful jet noise, the smell of jet fuel in the air, meeting pilots, and so on. 

I especially loved the way pilots and maintenance crews applied art to decorate these marvelous machines, proudly displayed on nose and tail sections. As I grew older I later came to admire, not only the disciplines to achieve the dignified title of fighter pilot but also the camaraderie built on the common effort among pilots and flight crews within individual squadrons, each with their own unique story and history.

My two favorites are the Tomcatters, who display the infamous Felix toting a bomb for their tail & nose markings, and of course the more widely known Jolly Rogers (☠️) Check out the film The Final Countdown - it’s pretty mind blowing and the aerial sequences are brilliant, especially for a film that predates the more widely known film, Top Gun.

Our upcoming graphic line for the spring collection will feature a reimagined Felix from the VFA-31 “Tomcatters.”

We steezed him out a bit with some fresh kicks, some dimension, a truly stoked smile, and a “posi-bomb” as he’s out to cease any and all bad vibes. Of course the #PMA is kept 💯 as well 😉 and usually goes without saying. But, it was fitting for this one!

We’re stoked on this little capsule and can’t wait to share it! Look forward to an all new hat and some other garments to complement this front runner as well! Stay tuned.
